Summary
This study aims to understand how muscle wasting in the mouth and throat affects swallowing in critically ill adults in intensive care. Researchers will measure muscle size and swallowing ability in 160 ICU patients and compare them to less ill hospital patients. The goal is to find better ways to diagnose and treat swallowing problems to help patients eat and drink safely during recovery.
