Can a simple ultrasound replace MRI for muscle checks in ICU kids?
NCT ID NCT05108441
First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a bedside ultrasound can accurately measure thigh muscle in critically ill children, compared to the gold-standard MRI. Researchers studied 35 children in intensive care who already needed an MRI. The goal was to see if ultrasound could be a reliable, easier way to track muscle loss, which is common and harmful in these patients.
