New MRI method could replace needles for kidney disease monitoring

NCT ID NCT06452862

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether special MRI scans can help diagnose and track diabetic kidney disease (DKD) without needles or biopsies. About 150 adults with DKD will get MRI scans and regular check-ups over 6 months. The goal is to see if MRI can predict how fast kidney function declines, which could lead to easier, safer monitoring in the future.
