Common drugs tested to reverse MS disability

NCT ID NCT05131828

Summary

This study tested whether combining two existing medications—metformin (a diabetes drug) and clemastine (an antihistamine)—could help repair the protective coating around nerves in people with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS). All 70 participants continued their standard MS therapy while taking the trial drugs or a placebo for 24 weeks. The goal was to see if this combination could stimulate the brain's natural repair cells to restore nerve function and potentially slow or reverse disability.
