Could a simple MRI scan replace costly PET scans for dementia?

NCT ID NCT05756270

Summary

This study tested whether a specific type of MRI scan (called pCASL) could work as well as a more complex and expensive PET scan for spotting early brain changes in people with mild memory problems. Researchers compared the two scan types in 150 people with mild cognitive impairment or subjective cognitive decline over three years. The goal was to see if the MRI method could reliably match the PET scan's results and potentially predict who might develop dementia.
