Preterm brain scans may predict future thinking abilities
NCT ID NCT02083822
First seen Jun 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026
Summary
This study looked at 600 premature babies born between 25 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. Researchers used MRI scans around the time the babies were due to be born and then tested their thinking and problem-solving skills at age 5. The goal was to see if early brain differences could predict later learning or behavior challenges. No treatments or medications were tested.
