Study probes hidden mental toll of rare brain disease in kids
NCT ID NCT05772572
Summary
This study aimed to better understand why children and young adults with Moyamoya disease, a rare condition that narrows brain arteries, often experience persistent pain, anxiety, and depression even after corrective surgery. Researchers surveyed 21 patients and their parents to explore the links between their mental health, family relationships, and post-surgery symptoms. The goal was to gather knowledge to design better psychological support programs that could improve patients' quality of life.
