First seen Nov 28, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested two mouthwashes in 72 adults with gum disease to see which better controls inflammation and prevents the condition from coming back. Participants used either a standard chlorhexidine rinse or a combination rinse with lower chlorhexidine plus cetylpyridinium chloride for one month after a professional cleaning. The researchers tracked bleeding, gum health, and mouth bacteria over six months.
