Scientists deliberately let mosquitoes bite people to track disease clues

NCT ID NCT04478370

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the human immune system responds to mosquito bites. Researchers exposed 147 healthy volunteers in Thailand to controlled mosquito bites from species that can carry malaria or dengue. By measuring antibody levels in blood samples, they looked for biological markers that could help track mosquito exposure and disease transmission risk in communities.
