Summary
This study monitors immune function in 200 intensive care patients after severe trauma, major surgery, or respiratory distress. Researchers use a new automated blood test to measure interferon-gamma production, a key immune signal. The goal is to identify when patients become immune-suppressed, so future treatments can be given at the right time to prevent infections and improve survival.
