New study aims to save molars with severe gum disease

Summary
This study looks at two ways to treat advanced gum disease that has reached the area where the roots of back teeth split. About 59 adults with severe periodontitis will receive either non-surgical cleaning or a surgical procedure. The goal is to see which approach helps the tooth survive longer over 5 years.
