First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a program of supervised exercise and nutrition advice can prevent older adults from losing their ability to move around. It includes 530 people aged 80 or older who are at risk of mobility problems. Participants get a personalized exercise plan and dietary counseling, and their physical function is tracked for one year.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- multicomponent exercise program and nutritional counseling
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a simple program of exercise and nutrition advice helps older adults stay mobile and independent longer.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study without a control group, so results may not prove cause and effect. The program may be hard to stick with, and benefits might not last.
