PrEP on the spot: new study tests HIV prevention at syringe programs

NCT ID NCT04782180

First seen Dec 31, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested whether offering HIV prevention medicine (PrEP) right away at a syringe services program helps people stay HIV-negative. 90 adults who were already enrolled in the program and tested negative for HIV took part. Researchers measured drug levels in the blood to check adherence and how quickly people started PrEP after their negative test.
