Text messages fight HIV: WhatsApp trial shows promise for prevention
NCT ID NCT04814654
Summary
This study tested whether sending educational messages through WhatsApp could encourage more HIV testing and connection to preventive care among men who have sex with men in India. Researchers enrolled 1,004 participants and randomly assigned them to receive either the WhatsApp messages, general health information, or just a coupon for free testing. The main goal was to see if the messages led to more people getting tested for HIV and connecting to preventive options like counseling or PrEP medication.
