New brain bleed treatment could cut repeat surgeries
NCT ID NCT06163547
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looks at a procedure called middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization for people with chronic subdural hematomas—a type of brain bleed common in older adults. The goal is to see if blocking certain blood vessels can stop the bleed from coming back after surgery, or even treat it without surgery when surgery isn't an option. About 180 adults will take part across multiple hospitals.
