Blood test may predict heart risk after surgery

NCT ID NCT03436238

First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study followed over 1,200 adults having major abdominal surgery to find blood markers that predict heart problems or death within 30 days and up to a year after surgery. Researchers measured heart injury and other events to improve how we identify high-risk patients. The goal is to help doctors prevent complications, not to treat the disease itself.
