First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a mindfulness-based program (including breathing exercises and meditation) in 39 Generation Z nursing students during their clinical internship. The goal was to see if it could improve mental health and reduce anxiety, depression, and stress compared to usual care. Participants completed surveys before, during, and after the internship.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Mindfulness-Based Intervention (breathing awareness, loving-kindness meditation, body scan, walking meditation, sitting body awareness, eating meditation, deep breathing exercises)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help nursing students manage stress and improve mental health during demanding clinical training.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed trial with only 39 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is behavioral, so effects may vary and long-term benefits are uncertain.
