Could a common heart drug save tiny babies from deadly post-surgery syndrome?

Summary
This study tests whether the drug milrinone can prevent post-ligation cardiac syndrome (PLCS) or death in premature infants born at or before 27 weeks who need surgery to close a heart vessel called the PDA. About 316 babies will receive either milrinone or standard care after the procedure. The goal is to see if the drug helps the heart pump better and improves survival and development at two years.
