First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether changing gut bacteria with antibiotics can help people keep weight off after losing at least 10% of their body weight. About 200 adults with obesity (BMI 28-35) will take either antibiotics or a placebo after weight loss. Researchers will track weight, gut bacteria, and blood sugar to see if this approach prevents the common pattern of weight regain.
