New ultrasound could spot prostate cancer more clearly
NCT ID NCT07075705
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a new type of ultrasound, called transperineal micro-ultrasound, can find prostate cancer during a biopsy. Instead of the usual probe placed in the rectum, this one is placed on the skin between the scrotum and anus. It uses higher sound wave frequencies to create clearer images of the prostate. The goal is to see if this method can better detect cancer and be a more comfortable option for patients.
