Drug trial aims to tame harmful hormone surge

NCT ID NCT06106295

Summary

This study is testing whether a drug called metyrapone is safe and effective for people with mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS), a condition where the adrenal glands produce too much of the stress hormone cortisol. Researchers want to see if lowering cortisol with this medication can help improve related health issues like high blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and weight. The trial involves 30 participants who have MACS along with at least one related health problem.
