NCT ID NCT07297290
Summary
This study is testing if metformin, a common diabetes medication, can help with weight loss and reduce heart disease risk in obese people who do not have diabetes. It focuses on Black Nigerians to see if the drug works the same way in this population as it has in others. Participants will take either metformin or a placebo (a dummy pill) daily for a set period while researchers track changes in their weight, waist size, and health markers.
