Diabetes drug put to the test as potential Weight-Loss pill
NCT ID NCT07297290
Summary
This study is testing if metformin, a common diabetes medication, can help obese people who don't have diabetes lose weight and reduce their risk of heart disease. Researchers are enrolling 220 Black Nigerian adults to compare metformin against a placebo pill. The goal is to see if this affordable, existing drug could become a new option for managing obesity in populations where current treatments are too expensive.
