Diabetes drug tested as hip fracture recovery aid

Summary

This pilot study looks at whether the diabetes drug metformin can help older adults regain thigh muscle and function after a hip fracture. Sixty people aged 60 and older who had surgery for a hip fracture will take either metformin or a placebo daily for 4 months. The goal is to see if metformin is safe and improves recovery.
