First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tests whether metformin, a widely used diabetes medicine, can slow down vision loss in people with glaucoma. Researchers will give 125 adults with worsening glaucoma either metformin or a placebo for 24 months and measure changes in the optic nerve and visual field. The goal is to see if metformin can protect the nerve even when eye pressure is already controlled.
