First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether the body's ability to switch between burning sugar and fat (called metabolic flexibility) predicts future metabolic health. Researchers used data from 18 healthy adults without obesity collected 16 years ago and brought them back for a single follow-up visit. The goal was to see if those with better metabolic flexibility had healthier blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, and body measurements over time.
