Experimental vaccine aims to tame diabetes autoimmunity
NCT ID NCT03624062
Summary
This early-stage study tested whether an experimental vaccine called MER3101 is safe for people with recent-onset type 1 diabetes. Twenty-one adults received injections to try to shift their immune system away from attacking insulin-producing cells. All participants continued their standard insulin therapy throughout the study, as this was primarily a safety evaluation.
