New program aims to ease anxiety for kidney dialysis patients

Summary

This study tests a 13-week program that teaches mental health skills to people who have recently started or will soon start hemodialysis (a treatment for kidney failure). The program, called dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) skills training, is designed to help reduce anxiety and improve quality of life. About 35 adults will take part, and researchers will check if the program is practical and helpful.
