First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked at whether the phase of a woman's menstrual cycle affects how her muscles recover after intense exercise. Fifteen healthy women did a downhill running workout during both the follicular and luteal phases of their cycles. Researchers measured muscle soreness, strength, and blood markers for several days after each workout to see if recovery differed between the two phases.
