Immune cell clues may predict sepsis outcomes
NCT ID NCT05875740
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study examined 16 ICU patients with sepsis to see if certain memory immune cells (called CD8+ T cells) are linked to how severe the infection is and the risk of dying. Researchers measured these cells in blood samples taken over 72 hours and tracked patient outcomes like length of ICU stay and death. The goal was to better understand the immune system's role in sepsis, not to test a new treatment.
