New combo therapy shows promise against advanced melanoma before surgery

NCT ID NCT04526730

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 05, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested a new approach for people with advanced melanoma that can be surgically removed. Participants received a combination of two immunotherapies: one injected directly into the tumor (Tavo) and one given through a vein (nivolumab). After 12 weeks, they had surgery to remove any remaining cancer, followed by more nivolumab. The goal was to see if this treatment could eliminate all cancer before surgery. The study enrolled 17 adults with operable, regionally advanced melanoma.
