Brain mapping showdown: MEG vs. EEG for better epilepsy surgery outcomes
NCT ID NCT03893916
First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study compares two advanced brain-mapping techniques—MEG and high-resolution EEG—to see which better pinpoints the exact area causing seizures in people with drug-resistant epilepsy who are candidates for surgery. One hundred participants will undergo both scans before their operation. The goal is to improve surgical planning and increase the chance of becoming seizure-free after surgery.
