First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests a precise method called doubly labeled water to measure how much energy critically ill patients use. By collecting urine samples, researchers hope to better tailor nutrition to each patient's needs. The goal is to improve recovery and reduce complications like infections. What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study. The method is expensive and may not be practical for routine use. Results may not apply to all ICU patients.
