First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests a new malaria vaccine made from genetically weakened parasites. The goal is to see if it is safe and can train the immune system to fight malaria without causing the disease. About 22 healthy adults who have never had malaria will receive the vaccine or a placebo and then be exposed to the malaria parasite in a controlled setting. The study focuses on safety and whether the vaccine can prevent infection.
