New surgery before lymph node removal may prevent painful arm swelling

Summary
This study tests if a procedure called lymphovenous bypass, done before lymph node surgery, can prevent lymphedema (arm swelling) in people with breast cancer or melanoma. The bypass creates a new path for lymph fluid to drain away from the arm. Researchers will compare swelling rates in 252 participants who receive the bypass versus standard care.
