Inhaled drug trial aims to protect Kids' lungs after Life-Saving transplants
NCT ID NCT04655508
Summary
This study tested whether an inhaled medication (fluticasone/salmeterol) could improve lung function and prevent a serious lung complication called Bronchiolitis Obliterans in children who had received a stem cell transplant. The trial involved 35 children aged 6-17 whose lung function had started to decline after their transplant. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the active inhaled medication or a placebo for six months to see if the treatment could stop the decline and improve breathing.
