Doctors map the unstable lungs of critically ill patients

Summary
This study aims to better understand how damaged lungs behave in patients who are on breathing machines for severe respiratory failure. Researchers will observe 100 patients, analyzing data from the ventilator and other tests to measure 'lung instability'—how much lung tissue opens when breathing in but collapses when breathing out. The goal is to gather knowledge that could help doctors manage ventilator settings in the future, but this study itself does not test a new treatment.
