Doctors map the unstable lungs of critically ill patients

Summary
This study aims to better understand how damaged lungs behave in patients who are on a breathing machine (ventilator) for severe breathing failure. Researchers will observe 100 patients, using data from the ventilator and other scans to measure how much lung tissue opens and then collapses with each breath. The goal is to gather knowledge to potentially help guide future care, but this study itself does not test any new treatments.
