New procedure traps chemo inside lung tumors and starves them

NCT ID NCT05672108

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a procedure called chemoembolization for people with non-small cell lung cancer or lung tumors that have spread from other cancers. Doctors inject chemotherapy directly into the artery feeding the tumor, then block that artery with tiny beads. This traps the chemo inside the tumor and cuts off its blood supply, which may stop or slow tumor growth. The study involves 30 adults whose tumors are growing despite other treatments or who cannot tolerate standard therapy.
