First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining a referral to a lung cancer screening program with text message reminders can increase screening rates among emergency department patients. About 300 eligible smokers aged 50-80 will be randomly assigned to receive either a basic referral or a facilitated referral plus texts. Researchers will follow up after 120 days to see who got screened and why.
