Gentler surgery technique aims to get patients home faster

NCT ID NCT05344417

Summary

This study is testing whether using lower air pressure inside the abdomen during laparoscopic colon surgery helps patients' bowels 'wake up' faster after the operation. Researchers will compare high and low pressure settings in 125 adults having this type of surgery to see if it leads to quicker recovery of normal bowel function and a shorter hospital stay. The goal is to reduce the common and uncomfortable problem of post-surgery bowel paralysis.
