Summary

This study tests whether a low dose of thyroid hormone (Synthroid) can help Veterans with NASH, a serious liver condition that can lead to liver failure or cancer. About 128 overweight or obese Veterans with NASH will receive either the hormone or a placebo daily for 52 weeks. The goal is to see if the treatment improves liver fat breakdown and reduces liver damage and scarring.
