First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether a low dose of buprenorphine (0.15 mg) can improve social motivation in 40 adults with schizophrenia. Social motivation problems—like low desire to connect with others—are common and have no approved treatments. Participants will receive both the drug and a placebo in random order, then complete tasks measuring social attention. The goal is to see if buprenorphine can boost approach and reduce avoidance in social situations.
