First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested a special silver-coated metal plate (LOQTEQ) for fixing broken ankle bones. The goal was to see if it is safe and works as well as the standard uncoated plate, while possibly reducing infections. About 200 adults with certain ankle fractures took part, and researchers tracked side effects and infection rates for 12 months after surgery.
