First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested a program that helps people with end-stage kidney disease find a living kidney donor. Patients on the transplant waitlist were encouraged to bring family and friends to educational sessions. These 'champions' then helped spread the word about the patient's need for a donor. The goal was to see if this approach could increase the number of live donor kidney transplants.
