New pain relief shot could keep you comfortable for days after surgery
NCT ID NCT07458282
First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether a new, long-acting numbing medicine (liposomal bupivacaine) combined with a standard numbing drug can provide better pain relief after laparoscopic surgery than standard care alone. About 318 adults having gallbladder, hernia, or appendix surgery will receive an ultrasound-guided nerve block before surgery. The main goal is to see if this approach reduces the need for strong painkillers (like morphine) in the first 48 hours after surgery.
