New device beats old method for bleeding control in gallbladder surgery
NCT ID NCT07517783
First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested two ways to stop bleeding during keyhole gallbladder removal: standard titanium clips versus a device called LigaSure that seals blood vessels. 114 adults were randomly assigned to one method. LigaSure reduced blood loss and shortened the time needed to control bleeding, with similar overall surgery time and no major complications. The findings suggest LigaSure may be a better option, especially in difficult cases.
