Enzyme clue may unlock new lewy body dementia treatments

NCT ID NCT05304195

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study checks if a key enzyme, glucocerebrosidase, is less active in people with Lewy body dementia. Researchers will compare enzyme levels in 236 participants (patients and healthy volunteers) to see if low activity is linked to the disease. If so, existing treatments for Gaucher disease might be tested for dementia.
