New Laser-Ointment combo could replace surgery for skin cancer

NCT ID NCT07010692

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tests whether using special lasers followed by a medicated ointment can effectively treat two common types of skin cancer: squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. About 100 adults with biopsy-confirmed skin cancer will receive the laser treatment and then apply the ointment at home for five nights. The goal is to clear the cancer while avoiding invasive surgery, leading to better cosmetic results and a treatment option suitable for many people.
