New surgery vs. hormonal IUD: which stops heavy bleeding better?

NCT ID NCT07529587

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study compares two treatments for women with enhanced myometrial vascularity, a condition that causes heavy menstrual bleeding. One treatment is a keyhole surgery that clips certain blood vessels, and the other is a Mirena IUD, a hormonal device placed in the womb. The goal is to see which approach reduces monthly blood loss more effectively. The study will include 56 women aged 18-45 who have not responded to initial medical treatments.
